What to Expect at Immanuel

Our preschool schedule is filled with activities specifically designed to foster learning, creativity, and social development in the most nurturing environment.

Typical Schedule of our Preschool Classes

Parent Drop-Off
Children are greeted at their car by teachers and assistants, setting the positive tone for a day!

Table Play and Center Time
Our center times allow us to capture many of the facets of early childhood development all in a fun, developmentally appropriate way! Children often engage in sensory, imaginative, educational, fine motor, and artistic activities all in one day! With the help of our teachers and assistants, we extend this play-based time to be enriching and nurturing the social, emotional, and cognitive development of each child.

Circle Time
Circle time, led by our lead teachers always includes a story, songs, fingerplays, and often a science experiment! Circle time not only well-prepares a child for the kindergarten classroom environment, but also provides enriching experiences that for many become the favorite part of preschool.

Bathroom Break
Scheduled bathroom breaks occur throughout the morning. Additionally, the location of our bathrooms allow for easy access when needed. Our teachers and assistants are available to promote independence and good hygiene habits.

Snack Time
Immanuel Preschool provides snacks each day. Often, lining them up with our themes for extended learning. Children engage in gratitude prayers before snack and perfect their table manners!

Outdoor/Gross Motor Play
Gross motor play is a vital part of our morning, providing opportunities for physical exercise and exploration but also enhancing our gross motor skills – imperative for childhood development. We access our outdoor playground as much as possible, but utilize a large indoor gross motor room filled with equipment when the weather requires we stay indoors.

Parent Pick-Up
Our convenient parent pick up occurs just like drop-off with our teachers bringing your child right to the car!

Other Components of Immanuel Preschool

Special Programs and Guests
In addition to our daily schedule, we often enjoy special programs and guests. These include Morning Yoga, visits from therapy animals, fitness programs, and special guest readers. Some of our community partners are Mifflin Community Library, Kindred Spirits Yoga, Mindful Roots Children, Breakout Fitness, Kindermusik, and more!

We are also proud of our continued partnership with Governor Mifflin. Due to our location next to Governor Mifflin High School, we nurture many shared opportunities, including science days with high schoolers and welcoming volunteers from the Volunteen Program.

Additionally, Immanuel Preschool collaborates closely with Miss Cara of Sunrise Therapy Services. Miss Cara, who is located on-site at Immanuel UCC. Miss Cara visits often to provide lessons, songs, and social-emotional learning skills to our preschool classes.

Throughout the year, we also offer optional programs that parents can sign up for at an additional cost. Typically held “after school,” these programs provide extra opportunities for children to expand their skills and learning, and for preschool families and parents to come together.

Field Trips
Throughout the year we organize field trips to new locations and also host on-site field trips! In the past, we have visited Weaver’s Orchard and Swartz Farm for seasonal trips. We’ve also welcomed local fire departments, Indian Run Environmental Education Center, and many more special guests to our preschool for new and exciting experiences!

We are grateful for the Alisha Adventure Fund, which allows us to provide many of our special programs and field trips to our preschool students at no additional cost to families.

Christian Nature
We take advantage of our incredible relationship with our church ministerial staff throughout the year. Our preschoolers enjoy Bible stories and songs during visits to the sanctuary to learn about the religious significance of holidays. Classes also engage in gratitude prayers before snack each day, reminding us to be thankful for all that we have.

At the core of our preschool is the value of welcoming everyone with love and acceptance. Our Christian atmosphere teaches students to care for, love, and accept each other. Students also participate in special mission projects that nurture positive attitudes toward helping others and being community minded.

Developmental Assessments and Monitoring
Our teachers provide developmental assessments throughout the year. Parents receive quarterly portfolios showcasing their child’s growth. Additionally, we provide annual developmental reports for all morning classes and Parent/Teacher conferences once a year. Our assessment practices are aligned with best practices and developmentally appropriate recommendations, ensuring that we are best preparing each child for continued development.

And More!
We regularly revisit and welcome new, exciting opportunities to expand our preschool programming. We pride ourselves on building community partnerships and being attuned to the needs of young children, ensuring your child not only receives a great preschool experience, but lifelong memories that enrich their personal development.
